Apple Fritter Bread Revisited

Here are some pictures of the latest apple fritter bread I made for my wife and I. I tweaked the recipe slightly and updated the original post with those corrections. Ana really loved this dessert – it was a delight to surprise her with this baked treat. Here are the pictures, which I think really showcase this delicious challenger to the ubiquitous banana bread. Give this one a try, it is a winner in my book! Enjoy! Doesn’t that look delicious…

Pumpkin Donuts

Here is a treat for Fall – pumpkin donuts.  This recipe makes approximately eighteen regular size cake donuts; the perfect amount for sharing. It is simple to prepare and delivers a delicious reward when you are done. Also it gives you another reason to use that donut pan you bought after reading the Devil’s Food Donuts posting in May! These pumpkin spiced donuts are slightly sweet, slightly spiced, moist and tender and everything you want in a cake donut. As for topping, I went with half in a cinnamon sugar coating and the other half glazed. Naturally, I opted to make a bourbon glaze which added an interesting and enjoyable flavor. Bring these to share with work colleagues, friends watching football (or baseball), or just to…

Apple Fritter Bread

This interesting and versatile breakfast/dessert recipe comes compliments of The Baking Chocolatess. Anyone who knows me knows that I like apple fritters… I’ll even admit I like them a lot. So during my search for something other than a traditional fried apple fritter, this recipe screamed ‘Try me!’. Boy I am glad I did!  This unique way of enjoying apple fritters is wonderful. Can you tell I am enamored with this recipe?  Well, I am.  So make room banana bread, apple fritter bread is getting into the rotation. You should add it to your baking rotation too! Graham Flour Waffles

After using Graham flour in the Tea Brack, I have pondered about how to incorporate it into other recipes. First up, waffles. I like waffles and having different types of flour allows for unique flavors and textures. Graham flour is a whole wheat flour – milled as a complete grain, not separately then recombined like standard whole wheat flour. The results when using this flour are nuttier in flavor and chewier in texture. This recipe is based on one available on the website Chef in You which uses saffron to enhance the flavor and color of the waffle. I have tweaked my version to use cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and vanilla for a true ‘spice cookie’ type of waffle (i.e. one of my favorites). This recipe…

Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake

I am beginning 2017 on a sweet note with a decadent dessert. It is no secret I love cinnamon rolls – my daughters can attest to me baking them when they were still at home – and that I love cheesecake. So why not combine the two?  Which is exactly what I have done. Again I twisted and tweaked (or is that swirled and twirled?) a recipe to suit my particular tastes and it let me use my small spring-form pans! The crust is a blend of vanilla wafers and graham crackers, the batter is New York style for its lightness, and the results are delicious. Feed your sweet tooth and make this recipe… you will not be disappointed! Save Print Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake Prep time…

Spice Cookies

Today’s experiment was with cookies.  No, not the annoying web cookies stored in your browser, but that holiday treat everyone enjoys – at least everyone I know.  I based this recipe on a Lebkuchen recipe, making some slight adjustments. The cookie it produces is a flavor bomb – honey, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, almonds, ginger, vanilla and rum. That’s right, I wrote ‘rum’. I made a simple rum glaze for these warm spiced treats and these cookies could be called chewable Hot Buttered Rum! So preheat that oven, we have family and friends needing these delights! Banana Bread

Ahhh… with Autumn falling here, I feel like baking a bit more.  To kick off the baking season, here is a quick and simple but incredibly tasty recipe for banana bread. The beauty of this recipe is that it can be made in a single bowl with a spatula or spoon to ease cleanup, easily tweaked by adding nuts, chocolate chips, raisins, etc. I based it on Elise’ recipe on Simply Recipes. It also makes a fabulous muffin – perfect for a party or breakfast!  So, let’s get baking!
