Cherry Almond Scones

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup chopped dried cherries
  • ¼ cup chopped slivered almonds
  • ½ cup heavy cream, plus 2 tbsp more from glazing
  • granulated sugar or turbinado for glazing
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment, silicone baking sheet, or lightly grease.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add the chopped cherries and almonds, stirring to incorporate.
  5. Slowly add the cream while stirring just until the dough comes together.
  6. Turn out onto a lightly floured counter top and mold into a round.
  7. Roll the dough out approximately ½ thick.
  8. Cut the dough into the shapes desired.
  9. Place the shapes onto the baking sheet and brush with cream before sprinkling sugar or turbinado over top.
  10. Bake in middle of oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  11. Cool on a wire rack before removing and serving.
