Graham Flour Waffles
- 1 cup whole wheat graham flour
- 2 egg whites
- ⅔ cup milk
- 2½ tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1½ tbsp sugar (or honey)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp allspice
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- Prepare the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, spices, and sugar (if using).
- In a small bowl, warm the milk in the microwave.
- Add the melted butter and honey (if not using sugar in the step above) into the warm milk.
- In a second small bowl, whisk the egg whites until frothy.
- Combine the milk mixture to the flour mixture.
- Stir in the frothy egg whites.
- Pour approximately 1 cup of batter into the waffle iron and cook until steaming stops.
- Remove to a plate and serve with warm syrup, fresh berries, or powdered sugar.
