Chill a rocks glass by filling with ice or placing in the freezer for 15 minutes. Add ice, whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker. Shake well to thoroughly chill the cocktail. Empty the glass and add fresh ice. Strain the cocktail into the glass and garnish with lemon wedge and cherry
