Balsamic Cherry Yogurt Sorbet

Here’s a delicious dessert that perfect for Summer. This simple combination of ingredients and a little time in the freezer is well worth the effort and wait – and you don’t have leave home to enjoy freshly made frozen yogurt. Of course, you can play with other fruit and flavor combinations; this balsamic and cherry was just something I concocted on a whim. And am I glad I did! Lightly sweet and slightly sour, this dessert is great for satisfying that need for a sweet treat on a Summer afternoon or after dinner. Let creativity be your guide – the only requirements are the yogurt and sugar. The rest is up to your imagination!

Serves: 6

Ingredients
  • 2 cups of yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
Instructions
  1. Add the yogurt, cherries, and salt to a food processor.
  2. Pulse to combine while adding the sugar.
  3. Drizzle the balsamic glaze while on Low.
  4. Pour into a 24 oz re-closable container, placing plastic wrap over top of the mixture to prevent ice crystals.
  5. Freeze overnight before serving.
Notes
The sugar is needed to allow the yogurt to be 'scooped'. Otherwise the frozen mixture will be rock hard and unable to be served easily.

I used vanilla yogurt just to enhance the flavor, plain yogurt will work just as well. Whole milk yogurt will create a creamier result.
